Thomas Burberry's store was known in 1856 for his practical outdoor wear. His great break through for the fashion industry was the invention of gabardine in 1880.This fabric was made by yarn that is waterproofed before the garment is woven. Totally convinced that this designer could make a better coat for their officers,he was asked by the War Office to try. The trench coat was the result of this en-devour. In 1924, the famous "Burberry Check" was only used as a lining for the trench coat but by 1967 it was expanded to being used in designer scarves, umbrellas, boots, and many other things. The widespread use of the famous "Burberry Check" pattern has continued to make this brand popular even today.
