PRADA, Started by a Man But it Took a Woman to Make it Really Happen!!

Founded by Mario Prada, Parda dates back to Milan, Italy in 1913. Steamer trunks and imported handbags were sold by Mario until his death in the '50s.  Mario was the ultimate male chauvinist  by today's standards, he would would not let a woman work in his store much less run his store. Even so, after his death his son did not want to take over the leather goods store so Mario's daughter-in-law took control and ran the store for 20 years. In the late '70s, Miuccia, Mario's granddaughter, took over and the brand took off.  In addition to the designer handbags, Miuccia began  designing leather backpacks and totes and soon opened a second store, a boutique in upscale shopping area in Milan. At this time they starting selling clothes and in 1989 with this expansion the high fashion market was cemented for the Prada name. Thank you Miuccia, we can still enjoy our luxury handbags. WOMEN RULE!!! http://www.inclusive-style.com
